My first real attempt at fx for this project. I am kinda fudging it as I go. All handkeyed geometry in the maya scene-frame by frame. I'm still trying to get a nicer shape for the explosions as they are quite spherical at the moment.
Obviously you can look below for the final look/colour/lighting style.
